Book Signings
With the Publication of "All Things are Ready" I arranged a number of book signings.
I had previously been part of a couple of book signings with Dorthy Dearborn when "New
Brunswick Short Stories" was published so I thought I had an idea what to expect.
In some ways signing books in front of Coles prepared me and in other ways it didn't...
The First Book Signing was in Saint John in November 2007

at the "Church of England Institute" on Princess Street and it was a delight.
This was the "Official Book Launch" and Gwen made certain that there
was tea and scones and it was a very relaxed and comfortable occasion.
There was a small crowd who came through and all in all it was an
enjoyable experience.
The Second Book Signing was in Quispamsis in November 2007
in
the Quispamsis United Church Library after Service on Sunday morning
(sorry no pictures, never thought). Jane had wanted an event at the
church to celebrate the launch of the book. I had arranged through the
Church of England Institute for extra books to be brought in and
proceeds from the sale to go to the congregation's library. I was
overwhelmed by the response and I don't think I will ever sign so many
books at one time again!
The Third Book Signing was in Sackville on Friday May 30, 2008

at the Annual General Meeting of the Maritime Conference. Given that
there were close to 700 people in attendance at the meeting, I expected
this to be a
bigger event than either of the others and was not
disappointed. Pat
through the UCRD (who hosted the event) made sure there was
space set
aside and books available. Sue from CSS publicity made sure
there were
extra promotional materials available which teh UCRD staff handed out
throughout
the weekend. The crowd was steady through the signing. One of the
joys
of this signing was hearing from people who had already purchased the book. They
told me how they were using the material and how much they appreciated
the resource - and I don't think there is nicer for a writer to hear! The other joy was people coming
up to me through the business meeting and asking me to sign their book!
